The skipper originally thought he would miss out on his pal's big day but he managed to swing it with England boss Fabio Capello to be involved.
Current Reds stars Joe Coe and Jay Spearing are also in the line-up, while Kopites could get their first sight of Paul Konchesky in a red shirt after he was named on the bench.
